OUR PROGRAMS

Through various sustainability projects with our coalition partners, we have strengthened our ties with local coconut growers in the regions within our supply chains. These projects aim to provide coconut farmers the knowledge, tools and support to improve and maximize their livelihood, while helping our partners promote sustainability in their supply chain.

Our in-house sustainability efforts also ensure that we continue to pursue low-carbon, sustainable and climate-resilient initiatives to stay aligned with the Franklin Baker core values.

A joint project with Mars, Incorporated, and in partnership with Livelihood Funds for Family Farming (L3F) and Integrated Rural Development Foundation (IRDF), we help farmers organize associations and train them on sustainable farming practices such as multi-cropping and replanting techniques to improve farming skills that can help increase farm output and thus, income. We also actively involve young generation as we create opportunities for family members to gain employment and undertake small business ventures.

Another project with L3F and IRDF, this time with Danone, the program aims to support long-term viability of organic coconut production, by helping guarantee long-term market access through direct sourcing. It includes digital application of traceability at farm sites and empowering women and youth farmers, as well as small business entrepreneurs, by exploring ways to fully utilize coconut parts and transform coconut waste into marketable products, thus adding value to coconut production cycle.

Sustainable Development and Good Agricultural Practices in the Philippine Coconut Supply Chain (SDG Coco) is a collaboration with Symrise, The Absolut Company (Malibu), GIZ and Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) to help improve farmer income and overall farm productivity thru Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and intercropping techniques. The program focuses on enhancing delivery services to farmers, including organizing farm demo sites and creating market linkages to spur continuous farm improvement and support our nut supply chain.

Run for Coconut Farmers

Run for Coconut Farmers

Franklin Baker Run for Coconut Farmers is our yearly fundraising event which aims to benefit partner farmers and their families. Proceeds are used to provide necessities such as groceries, farm equipment as well as various trainings and seminars that can help improve the livelihood of Filipino coconut farmers.

Solar Powered Plants

In 2021, solar panels were installed across our three plant facilities to reduce our energy cost and our carbon footprint. Made with photovoltaic cells, panels convert sunlight into electricity to provide power to support our processing operations and minimize environmental impact.

Coconut Shell Power Boilers

Coconut Shell Power Boilers

Nothing goes to waste! After extracting the water and meat, coconut shells are then used to power up our boilers. Boilers from two of our plants are fully powered by coconut shells, limiting coal emissions and minimizing waste.
